8,000+ Rhode Islanders to receive checks for 'missing money'

More than 8,000 Rhode Island residents are in for a pleasant surprise this week, as the Rhode Island General Treasurer's Office is mailing out checks returning unclaimed money. This burst of mailing is part of a Treasury program called "Your Money," which was recently started to increase the efficiency of the unclaimed funds return process. The average check is around $200, with the total being returned coming close to $1.3 million.
