Clerk's office failed to timely transfer unclaimed property

A recent state audit in North Carolina found that the clerk's office of Forsyth County did not make enough effort to identify and find the owners of unclaimed property in county possession. Additionally, the audit found that the county clerk's office did not turn over most of the unclaimed property to the state in a timely manner, which resulted in significant delays in the return process.
